Jennifer Karidis Caneiro

State of New Jersey v. Paul J. Caneiro is a quadruple murder, arson, and financial fraud prosecution in Monmouth County, New Jersey, arising from the November 20, 2018, homicides of 50-year-old Keith Caneiro, his 45-year-old wife Jennifer, and their children Jesse (11) and Sophia (8). Facing financial ruin and exposure for embezzling corporate funds from shared technology ventures, Paul Caneiro shot and stabbed his brother's family at their Colts Neck estate before setting fire to the mansion and his own Ocean Township home. Following an eight-year judicial process that included a landmark New Jersey Supreme Court Fourth Amendment ruling on warrantless fire scene evidence seizure, a Monmouth County jury convicted Caneiro on all 15 counts on February 13, 2026. On May 19, 2026, Presiding Judge Marc Lemieux sentenced Caneiro to four consecutive terms of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
